We thoroughly enjoyed a 14 bicycle trip with the Art of Bicycle Trips from Bangalore to Kochi with Muthu, Poonach, Siljo. What an amazing country–the people, the terrain, the homestays, the villages, the traffic. Nothing we read or heard truly prepared us for the assault on all our senses and cycling really gave us the opportunity to fully experience India. Our cycling guides were awesome. Muthu adjusted our rides based on the group’s collective riding skills. Siljo, our driver, was so amazing with snacks and water and navigating the van through some pretty narrow roads. India has amazing terrain, elevations with vistas worth the climb. And Poonach provided good commentary about the many facets of India. We have taken many cycling vacations, and without a doubt, India has left a memory of a lifetime! Thanks Art of Bicycle Trips for helping us discover and experience Incredible India!

Our 5 day Kerala backroads bicycle tour was fun and informative, the tour guide and driver were excellent. We really experienced the culture, the people, and the landscape while riding. A great way to see India!

It was a memorable trip. We were very well looked after by Muthu, Manju and Siljo. Every small requirement of ours was anticipated and catered to. The routes were well planned. The bikes, hotels and van was good too. We had a great time – thank you! We look forward to the next trip!

I loved the trip. Of all the organized tours and activities I did in India this one was by far the most well orchestrated. Dibin really went above and beyond the call of duty.

Central Kerala bike tour was a great way to see Central Kerala. It is such a magical place. My highlights included Kaivalyam Retreat, the endless hills of tea plantations, riding through the hills and cardamom field, Abraham spice plantation & the overnight houseboat stay.

For us this was our second tour with The Art of Bicycle Trips and we were not disappointed. The Rajasthan experience is very different from the one we so enjoyed last year in Kerala which brought us back again to India for a repeat cycle. The lush green tea and cardomon plantations on the hills around Munna make way for a much harsher landscape but the history, the colourful people, the life in the villages and the amazing palaces and forts along the Rajasthan route make up for this. In short we had a wonderful week and learnt a great deal about the history, politics and culture of India from our extremely well informed guide Poonacha who was really engaging. The standard of the beautiful Heritage hotels that we stayed in was way beyond our expectations. The food was excellent and the people who attended to us friendly and really helpful throughout . We had a marvellous time and heartily recommend the company for making India accessible to those of us who love to travel by bicycle in a way that allows us to feel safe, pampered and informed.

A very well run trip from start to finish with superb, friendly, competent staff in every department. The accomodation was beyond any expectations and would have been impossible to find if booking privately and there were no hidden extras throughout the trip. We have experienced many enjoyable cycling holidays in Europe but feel that our Art of Bycycling trip has been the best! We will most certainly be booking with them again.

This was a wonderful tour de force of Rajasthan. Besides all of the famous sites of the Golden triangle it managed to include some fantastic cycling through remote villages, picturesque hills, and deserts stretching into the mists. In addition to this we found time for visiting romantic remote hill forts, palaces, temples and even a game park. We saw everything from age old Oxen drawn irrigation wells to the wealth beyond imagination of the maharajah’ s palaces. Ladies dressed in jewel coloured saris mending the roads and labouring in the fields while their men folk cruise around on motor bikes drinking chai with their friends. Colourful vibrant Rajasthan is indeed larger than life!

All of the hotels were memorable and a few were unique. I never imagined I would be able to stay in the maharajah of Jodpur’s Hunting Lodge.! A completely pristine Art Deco palace where one almost expected overhear the cream of 1930s Indian and British society celebrating their hunting triumphs of the day over a gin and tonic by the lake. Everywhere we stopped we were greeted by curious enthusiastic vilagers and children who found us every bit as interesting as we found them. On one occasion a local insisted that he bought us all a chai and my husband was permitted to ride a beautiful Royal Enfield motor bike. Lots of requests for selfies everywhere. The two trip leaders were wonderful. Quietly knowledgeable Kamal and effervescent and chatty Hussein. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them and both did everything in their power to make this a memorable trip. A special thanks to ‘Mr B’ who based on the evidence we saw is probably the best driver in India! And last but not least thank you Pankaj for answering my many queries so patiently and putting together this amazing trip

Thank you for such a well planned, superbly led trip. We learned so much more about Kerala and it’s unique characteristics and beauty than we thought we would. This was our first trip to India and our first “organized tour group”. Both exceeded our expectations. We will surely return.

TOUR GUIDE(s): Dibin – personable, knowledgeable, flexible. Sajib- good natured, patient. Dibin’s style, competence and communication skills were invaluable assets for the success and enjoyment of this trip

BIKES: Good equipment. Bikes were solid — easy to handle and needed for some of the bumpy roads.

It was a great tour. The cycling was varied and interesting, particularly the hill days. We stayed and ate in really cool places that we never would have found on our own. There were extremely worthwhile and fun cultural activities everyday after or during our ride. The guide and drivers were all very professional, caring, and helpful. Our guide made sure we experienced a lot in a short time. Overall I’d recommend this trip to anyone. We plan on taking another Art of Bicycle trip the next time we’re in India (or someplace else where the trips are offered).

Went beyond our expectations, especially since we had little knowledge of the new tour we signed up for

How do I put our trip into words! This was one of the most remarkable and enjoyable travel experiences we have ever had. Right from my initial enquiry, responses were prompt, questions were answered and your willingness to adapt and fit in around our specific requirements was fantastic. Cycling is such a great way to experience a country, not just see it. We had so many memorable interactions with the locals, especially the children! Being surrounded by cycling children on their way to school, scooters slowly travelling beside us so they could ask us questions, slowly manoeuvring through herds of cattle, sheep and goats carefully tended by shepherds, women in brightly coloured saris smiling and waving to us from the fields and school children yelling and waving with excitement as we cycled past schools. So many amazing and vivid memories. Their kindness, curiosity and generosity is something we will remember forever. We also enjoyed the many historical sites we visited. The local guides were knowledgeable, making our tours very interesting. Kumbhalgarh Fort was a favourite, such an amazing place, and of course Bhangharh Fort. Thank you for allowing us to detour into this very intriguing place, such a unique place to visit and to hear all the very intriguing tales. The walking tour in Jaipur with Vineet was outstanding and gave us an insight into the life and skills of the traditional arts and crafts within the city walls and also a taste of some delicious local street food. Something completely different was the slum tour in Delhi, a very educational and thought provoking experience, nothing like we had anticipated and an experience that I find myself still reflecting back on. We thank you for getting to know us well enough over the two weeks that you would suggest this as an option for us to do in Delhi, it really was a highlight. Visiting the villages was also an amazing privilege, being invited into homes and being given such a warm welcome by the families. How can we ever enjoy a Chai again after drinking one made from milk we saw being freshly milked! It was such an honour to be able to spend time with these wonderful people. Our accommodation was always of a high standard and provided a lovely insight into India’s history and of course a lovely comfy bed after a day on the bike. The food was exceptional, our local Indian restaurant will never be the same! Our driver Munshi was always calm, patient, helpful and it was nice to know he was just a short distance behind us if we ever needed him for more water, a quick snack or puncture repairs. He was our hero. Finally, Pankaj, our tour leader. Thank you for organising such a memorable trip, taking care of every little detail, helping us understand local customs and answering our many questions. It was a privilege to spend time with you and to meet your lovely wife. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and understand the type of things we enjoy doing and are interested in and tweaking our trip to meet these interests. We enjoyed our many conversations and laughs along the way. One day we will be back.

My trip was fantastic. It was a great experience, very well planned and it was so good to just get there and have everything be taken care of. All I had to do was enjoy the bike riding and the non-riding trips. The scenery, the routes and the non-riding activities were all great. The trip was also excellent value for money and so worth it. The whole experience was made even better by the people we met, from our group leader to the local guides and our driver as well as the staff at the hotels. Everyone just made it so memorable and I felt very welcome! I am very glad I chose to explore India by bike with your company especially when this was my first trip to this wonderful country. I was also traveling in India by myself and I felt extremely safe with this tour and the company so I highly recommend it to lone female travelers who wish to go off the beaten path and experience a different side of India. I will surely recommend this trip to everyone and I will definitely go on another one. This first trip made me want to explore more areas of India and perhaps places of SE Asia that I have yet to visit. So thank you so much for a wonderful experience, one of the best ones I’ve had in my life!

I wanted a bike ride that was only a couple of days and within easy access from Delhi where my wife had work commitments. After searching the web, the golden triangle option of Art of Bicycle Trips was the only one that suited, and the website itinerary sounded promising. My initial impression was that it was expensive, but I assumed this reflected a high quality operation…….I was correct. From start to finish the organisation was good, the bikes, the accommodation were all top rate, and the extras inluding the guided tours of Keoladeo wetland and Taj Mahal were spot on. The duration of riding was well judged, and not too demanding in the hot weather. On top of this, our tour leader was a warm and friendly guy who made us feel comfortable and relaxed.

As cyclists, this bike tour was one of the highlights of our India trip. Started in Udaipur with GOOD bikes (and we did bike tours everywhere, these were the best quality by far) I got a brand new Giant hybrid and my girlfriend had a Scott. We rode 50ish km the first day finishing with a really fun ascent to the first luxurious hotel (which was like a private resort). The second day we cycled some hills to get to a beautiful town called Narlai. The town has a huge rock called Elephant rock which is a must see and must climb (I did Sunrise and sunset). Here we stayed at a royal guest house. Was beautiful and also had great food. From here we cycled to a royal palace where we were the only guests for the night. Which was quite amazing. Food was okay, but palace and location was beautiful. The final dag rode another 50km and were dropped off in Jodhpur.

I was initially shocked at the cost as my girlfriend organised it. Cost about $1800usd for four days, but included three nights accommodation and meals in very nice places, as well as quality equipment a support vehicle and a great guide Qutub (I think his name was). The only other thing I paid for was beer… Was a really good experience and would highly recommend!

We enjoyed our Udaipur to Jodhpur cycling trip immensely. Everything was well organised and hotels and activities planned were very fascinating. A great experience overall.

Kamal was a wealth of information – incredibly intelligent and a very strong rider. Pancheet (Sp?) was a very energetic and wonderful person who was always willing to give his insight and inspired us all along the way. We truly loved both of them and the trip was truly fantastic, Thank You.
